Faster Pastor Race Spend your Memorial Day (evening) watching the Faster Pastor Race and all the regular raceing at Holland Speedway! Pastor Eric and other Pastors from area churches will take to the track and race real race cars around the high banks of Holland. Some of you will remember when Pastor Dave Derk was in it and what a fun time it was, so don't miss it this time. Lets root for Eric "Speed Racer" Rose to victory and bragging rights for the SFUMC! Come early and enjoy some tailgating at 4:30pm. before the races begin at 5:15pm. Holland Speedway is a very fun, family friendly race track. Thats Monday, May 26th. tailgating at 4:30pm., races begin at 5:15pm. Tickets are presale at the church office or from the Mexico Mission Team Members. A General admission is $7.00 ea. and a Family of 4 admission is $15.00.
Pastor vs. Pastor This fight will long be remembered in our Church's history, or at least until next week! "Hooligan" VanDussen won a hard fought battle against "Rambo" Rose in a 4 round maylay! Hooligan was coached by Anita "O'Domes" and "Rambo" was trained by "King" Maybray. But expierience and a firm right hook prevailed over youth and speed, with Rambo Rose kissing the canvas in the fourth round after Hooligan Van Dussen landed a huge right hand! The announcer was Tom Place and the referee for the fight was Dave "Glass Jaw" Batterson. After the main event ended the fans demanded the trainers to go at it. So King Maybray and Anita O'Domes climbed into the ring for a 4 round grudge match. This was also a hard hitting fight, neither trainer would back down. But finally in the last seconds of the 4th round King Maybray landed a haymaker that put O'Domes down for the count and salvaged a little dignity for the "Rambo" Rose camp! The evening finished with several of the younger fans buying a round of fight time and trading punches. The evening was a big success and a lot of fun! It was made possible because the congregation added 15% or more (20%!) to their March offerings. That money and what was collected on fight night through the concessions and donations went to the Close the Gap Fund. Thank you to everyone on the Resource Team that helped to put this event together and worked so hard at setting things up, cooking hotdogs, serving refreshments, cleaning up and all the other things that needed doing. And Thanks to Pastor Greg and Pastor Eric and their "trainers" for being such good sports! Click here for a video of the main event. http://youtube.com/watch?v=RI_GzNCwXIY
