SHORTER VERSION…
A BEACON OF SCRIPTURAL CHRISTIANITY FOR AN
EVERCHANGING WORLD
OUR PURPOSE…
THE PURPOSE OF SPRINGVILLE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
IS TO GLORIFY GOD THROUGH WORSHIP, HOSPITALITY,
OUTREACH & MISSION,
DISCIPLESHIP, TRANSFORMATION,
AND STEWARDSHIP.
WORSHIP
"Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care."
Psalm 95:6&7, NIV
We glorify God through Biblically-based worship services designed to help people focus on God and experience His presence, employing the full range of our being from joyful praise to silent awe. We are committed to worshipping God, and prayer is essential to everything we do. We respect the place of worship because of the God we worship.
HOSPITALITY
"…in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
Romans 12:5, NIV
"Continue to love to love one each other with true Christian love. Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!"
Hebrews 13:1&2, NLT
We welcome everyone, just as Christ welcomes us. We are a multigenerational church, caring and supportive, where everyone feels a sense of belonging to each other and to God. We honor God’s house, our guests, and each other by providing an inviting facility, where all can come to worship, socialize, celebrate, and grieve together.
OUTREACH & MISSION
"…you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will bear witness for me in Jerusalem, and throughout all Judea and Samaria, and even in the farthest corners of the earth."
Acts 1:8, REB
"We love because he first loved us."
I John 4:19, NIV
We share the Good News of Jesus through the Biblical message and the witness of our lives. Just as Jesus came to serve, we now serve as His hands and feet by mobilizing ourselves for a Christ-like response to the needs of our community and world.
DISCIPLESHIP
"…grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever!"
II Peter 3:18, NIV
We provide leadership, resources and facilities for spiritual growth and maturity. Prayer and Bible study are central to our life in Christ. We are committed to building a strong Scriptural foundation for all ages.
TRANSFORMATION
"…we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more."
II Corinthians 3:18. NLT
We believe God transforms us by His grace. He has the power to change our lives so that we become the people and community God created us to be. Our lives should reflect the peace, joy, and forgiveness of God. We walk alongside and assists in every way possible those seeking a way of life based on God’s love and teaching.
STEWARDSHIP
"…I have seen with joy how willingly your people who are here have given to you. O Lord, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this desire in the hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you."
I Chronicles 29:17&18, NIV
"…remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Acts 20:35, NIV
We keep ourselves focused on Christ and strive to give God our best, wisely using the resources He has blessed us with. We give of ourselves out of gratefulness so that we can love and serve Him in the world.
