Visitors and Newcomers: When you visit the Springville First United Methodist Church, you will not be asked to stand up or identify yourself! The people sitting around you will smile and say hello, but unless you tell them you are a visitor, probably they will assume that you usually attend the other service! With an average Sunday attendance of 250, not everyone knows everyone else. Some people are going to be embarrassed that they don't remember your name when they feel they should know it. We have lots of visitors, and new people constantly are assimilated into our church groups. Remember that the person sitting ahead of you or behind you may be almost as new as you are, so introduce yourselves!
At the end of each row of seats is a red booklet which all those in attendance at Sunday worship are asked to sign. You can write your name and address and indicate whether or not you want someone from the church to contact you.
Several times a year, the pastor holds a series of informational meetings about the church and its ministries. If you want to be baptized, join the church, get on the mailing list, or have any sort of questions, just call the church office at (716) 592-7451 and leave a message if the secretary isn't there. The best way to get to know other people in the church is to join a small group or activity. When clipboards are passed around asking for volunteers for one thing or another, sign up! When an activity is advertised, go to it. The only "closed" group in the church is the Pastor-Parish Relations team which discusses personnel matters. For anything else, you are always welcome!
