Laughter, big grins, fun activities, seeing someone you love mark a special achievement. These are all indications of joy in someone’s life, but none of them makes up joy by itself. As important as it is to experience such marks of joy as Christians, there is something deeper to our experience of joy. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that, “For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” We are going to look to Jesus this morning to think about how he sets this example and what kind of joy God invites us to. Hebrews 11:29-12:2 will help guide our hearts in worship today.
