Our music ministry plays a vital role in creating the environment and opportunities for people to praise and worship God. In our Sunday morning worship traditional music supports the liturgy and the ministry of God’s word in our community at times setting the background for these experiences and at others taking a lead role in helping people encounter Christ. The Traditional Music Ministry Leader will work to engage the congregation with traditional style music in a blended worship style experience.
Responsibilities:
Leading congregational music on the organ or piano in support of our traditional musical elements in our blended worship gathering. This includes leading the music for hymns, support of the liturgy, special music, and worshipful musical background prior to and following worship.
Coordinate schedule of individuals or ensembles for special music for worship. It is our preference that this music leader will be able to work with small groups of singers for choral pieces to be shared as special music once or twice a month.
Duties:
Planning – work with Pastor and worship planning team (including the Praise Team Leader) to help develop themes and select music for congregational singing with hymns. This meeting happens about once every 4 to 6 weeks. Additional planning with recruiting musicians and singers from within the congregation to share during offertory multiple Sundays a month.
Sunday Service – Accompany congregational singing on organ or piano for one to three hymns and the doxology. Sharing worshipful music during the gathering of the congregation prior to worship and at the conclusion of the service.
Qualifications:

A love of Christ and a passion to help other people worship God. A support of Wesleyan theology through the hymns of the church.

Knowledge of hymns and traditional worship music.

The ability to work with diverse individuals with varying levels of musical abilities.

Music training, BA/BS in Music preferred, proficient at organ and/or piano.

Ability to direct small music groups is preferred. .
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience, final job scope, and weekly time commitment.
Instruments:
The church regularly maintains our 12 rank pipe organ with a Schantz console, and our Stultz and Bauer grand piano.

Our families with young children are a highly valued part of Springville First UMC. We look to provide excellent care to our youngest as we minister to parents during worship and Christian Formation experiences.
Statement of Purpose: To provide appropriate care for preschool children (ages 0-4) in a loving and safe environment while parents are in worship and Christian formation.
Responsibilities:
- Leading our nursery ministry on Sunday morning by both caring for children brought to the nursery and helping to support the volunteer staff in helping provide appropriate care.
- Coordinate schedule of individuals to aid in the nursery and make sure that new volunteers have been screened through our Safe Sanctuary policy.
- Keep weekly attendance records for both children and volunteers in the nursery.
Additional Expectations:

Provide a safe, caring, and clean environment for young children in the nursery.

Staffing of the nursery 15 minutes prior to the start of Sunday morning experiences. During the program year (September through May) this includes Sunday school and worship. During our summer schedule it is only for worship.

Interact with parents and volunteers as an extension of the excellent care provided for our children.

Oversight of equipment and toys in the nursery to ensure that they are clean and in good working order.
Qualifications:

A strong Christian faith, as evidenced in word and deed.

Red Cross certification to work with children. If not certified when applying, willing to go through training within the first month of serving.

Experience in childcare or babysitting multiple infants/toddlers.
-
At least 18 years old.
-
Up to date vaccination including for COVID-19.
