Scripture is an important way that God communicates with us and invites us to understand what is expected for a faithful life. It is so easy to let the guidance of scripture become a list of rules. In our scripture from Acts 10:9-23 it is clear that Peter knew the rules and what faithfulness looked like. It becomes clear by the power of the Holy Spirit that Peter needed a fresh understanding of what is most important for God. He saw that Jesus was inviting him into putting people first over the rules of law. The results of Peter’s response changed lives and the direction of the Church. What lesson will God have for us from this story?
